Allen & Heath GX4816 96kHz Audio Rack Expander (48 XLR In / 16 XLR Out)

The GX4816 is a 96kHz remote audio expander that dramatically increases the input and output capacity of compatible Allen & Heath mixing systems and AHM matrix processors. It’s loaded with 48 mic/line preamp inputs with individual phantom power LED indicators, plus 16 balanced, relay-protected XLR line outputs, all fully recallable from the connected mixer. A single Cat5e (or better) cable carries digital audio and control to the mixer’s SLink port, with no IP addressing or configuration required — the GX4816 is automatically recognised and its firmware kept in sync. Two additional DX ports allow connection of up to 4 further DX expanders, or a ME Personal Monitoring System for individual in-ear mixes. Housed in a 5U, 19-inch rack-mountable chassis with anti-slip feet for floor use, the GX4816 can be placed up to 100m from the mixer, with up to 2 units supported on an SQ system, making it a practical way to add large-scale local I/O without running a full multicore.
